Abstract: Given the inequities and unsustainability of the present model of development, the world needs profound transformations in the fundamental values and organizing principles of society. The challenge is to recognize the legitimacy of the global polity as an outer layer of the nested system of affiliation that reaches across regions and places, and to build the processes of democratic global governance for implementing the global transformation and managing our collective affairs on this planet. The Peoples’ Sustainability Treaties (PST) commenced as an initiative by global civil society organizations to develop an independent, collective outcome for a sustainable future beyond Rio+20. The PST is essentially a forward looking process and targets a future Post-2015 and will evolve a new common narrative and agenda towards the transformation to a sustainable world order. The treaties will evolve a new common narrative and agenda towards the transformation to a sustainable world order. The common narrative and agenda will provide a common platform for a collective Peoples Movement to evolve.
